OUR VALUES

Sustainability and respect for the natural environment are at the heart of the design and construction of Domic. The home has been designed and built to look like an extension of the Noosa National Park, offering outstanding sustainability credentials and setting a new benchmark in luxury and eco-conscious design.

Domic is nestled into the sand dunes of Sunshine Beach, with its roof and walls wrapped in a blanket of natural vegetation which keep the house well insulated as well as providing filtration of any rainwater that falls on the roof. The home’s water conservation initiatives include extensive rainwater and stormwater harvesting systems.

Domic generates its own electricity with 113 solar panels and a room full of lithium batteries ensuring that the property can run off-grid for most of the time and allows the house to be carbon neutral in its energy consumption versus production over the year.

A state-of-the-art home automation technology system works to conserve energy whilst simultaneously controlling automated lighting, security, CCTV, door entry control, intercom, distributed audio and video, external landscape audio, a commercial grade cinema room and spa and pool control.

Domic uses hempcrete in its construction which is a non-structural insulation material. Lightweight, strong, and durable, hempcrete is made from hemp shives (the woody bit on the inside of the hemp stalk), mixed with lime and water creating a concrete like mix. Hempcrete is a carbon sequestering material, it takes more CO2 out of the atmosphere than it produces during manufacturing, making hempcrete houses carbon negative. It also provides superior acoustic and thermal insulation properties, is termite resistant and does not burn, making it an excellent product for sustainable construction. Hempcrete panels from the owner's production facility in the Netherlands, Dunagro Hemp Group, have been used during the construction of Domic.

“Industrial hemp is changing the way we think about everything from food and fibre to oils and building materials worldwide.”
